Psychotherapy with Johanna Lindau

Read below about the foundation of how I work as well as modalities used:

UNIQUE APPROACH
I use a combination and wide range of modalities in our work together to address many levels of mind, body and spirit. Talk is helpful for integration, but does not address the whole YOU. We go deeper in order to shed light on your challenges. I include brain science, human biology, the unconscious mind, and your unique personal experiences. From role play to drawing, screaming or silence, Sandtray configurations, going into nature for exploration, movement and the body, my work with you is active and challenging, and at the same time supportive and lighthearted. No one session will look alike. Most importantly is that I will help you fully realize your goals and true potential to become unstuck for good.

OUR CONNECTION
Essential to our work is our relationship! With kindness and non-judgment we create a safe environment to choose your goals and work through the toughest challenges.

SYSTEMS APPROACH
At each level of our lives everything is interconnected. We are a part of many systems including our internal world, physical environment, family, community, culture and more. Using a Systems Approach we look at problems within the relationships in which they occur.  Systems Approach aims to promote change by intervening in the broader system rather than in only one part alone.

INNATE GOODNESS
I believe and help to instill in my clients that there is a goodness, strategic reasoning or noble intent behind most actions, even if unconscious. Many times, on the surface a hurtful or harmful behavior may look negative and defective. However, when we take a closer look, actions are usually a result of an intelligent innate strategy moving us away from harm and towards safety.

MIND + BODY
I help you access the inherent wisdom in your body in order to better understand and treat your concerns and help you heal. There exists an intimate relationship between the human body and the psychological well-being of a person. Feelings are both in the body and mind. We use the body as a resource for self-discovery and healing. We explore at the level of sensation, movement, and non-verbal communication. To better help our exploration we develop mindfulness techniques and practices.
